Wine tasting notes

This wine has an attractive garnet colour. On the nose there are notes of spice and candied fruit with nuances of fresh red berries such as strawberries and cherries. Its ageing in oak is emphasised with a smoky vanilla aroma. In the mouth, it is delicate in body, with soft tannins and ripe red fruit flavour and a long persistent finish.

Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2008)86 pts #184. Aug 2009. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2008 Estate Pinot Noir is medium ruby-colored with a nose of strawberry, rhubarb, and raspberry. Smooth-textured, sweetly-fruited, and friendly, it has decent Pinot Noir varietal character, a bit of structure, and modest length.

Vinification Notes

Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 48-72 hours, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature (25 -27C) in 9,000 litre concrete vats, for a 20-day period, with periodical use of rack and return technique. The next step is the malolactic fermentation and later ageing of 15 tp 20% of the volume in American and French oak casks for 12 months, followed by the bottling and further bottle ageing for 6 months before its release.
