Wine tasting notes

This medium-bodied fine red-ruby coloured wine has an elegant, fragrant nose of rich blueberries and fruits of the forest, with a slight herbaceous note. The succulent palate is round and velvety with a loganberry fruit character and cherryish undertones.

Winery Information

Vinnaioli Jermann

The Jermann family have Austro-Hungarian origins, moving from today’s Slovenia to the Friuli Venezia Giulia in northern Italy in the late 19th century. They have a 150 hectare estate with 130 hectares under vine, and 20 dedicated to seeds and horticultural crops. Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2014)90 pts

Dec 2017 - The 2014 Pinot Nero Red Angel on the Moonlight opens to a dark ruby color and a compact, mid-weight approach. The bouquet offers bright aromas of wild berry, pressed violets and dried rose hip. The varietal purity is impressive despite the less focused characteristics of this challenging vintage. Despite a difficult growing season, those Pinot Nero aromas stand tall and proud.

Wine Spectator (2013)90 pts

This medium-bodied Pinot Nero is finely balanced, offering light, sculpted tannins layered with bright acidity and expressive flavors of sun-dried cherry, strawberry and star anise, accented by savory wafts of bacon fat and grilled herbs. Drink now through 2023.

James Suckling (2014)90 pts

A fresh and elegant pinot nero with sliced berry and orange character. Medium body, fine tannins and a clean finish

Vinification Notes

Made from 100% Pinot Nero – Pinot Noir to you and me. The vines are grown on soil which originates from the Ecocene elevation of Monte Fortino. The fruit is hand-picked and fermented in small stainless steel tanks, then aged in small French oak barrels before bottling and release.
