Food Matching

While this is a really interesting aperitif wine, especially when you want to introduce your friends to something a bit different that they may not have tried, it is a wine to take seriously as a match for food. Think rich foods prepared simply. Master Sommelier Vincent Gasnier suggests skewers of barbecued prawns and courgettes, while Malcolm Gluck and Mark Hix, suggest boiled duck's eggs with asparagus soldiers and sardines on toast. Salads containing bacon and chicken are also good choices. The wine will also work well with smoked meat and fish.

Wine tasting notes

Lemon barley with shades of lime green in colour, this wine is aromatic leaping from the glass. Orange blossom, jasmine and lime zest are the main event, backed by a supporting cast of fresh pineapple and lavender. The flavours are all of the citrus spectrum, lime juice, ruby grapefruit and homemade lemonade. The wine has a fine structure and finishes gracefully with mouth watering acidity.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2014)88 pts

Green-tinged straw. Aromas of fresh lime and quince, with a hint of white pepper building in the glass. Dry, focused and spicy, conveying good lift and bite to its bitter citrus fruit and green apple flavors. Closes taut and nervy, with an echo of zesty lime and good cling.

Wine Spectator (2017)89 pts

Lip-smacking green apple, lime and grapefruit zest notes are bright and precise, set on a sleek and juicy frame.

Best Buy - A bright, attractive dry Riesling at an affordable price, this wine is a delicate composite of fresh peach, lime and floral notes. It's zingy and limey on the palate with a soft chalky texture. There's an easygoing nature about this summery sipper.

Vinification Notes

Gentle processing of the grapes, and the use of only the clearest juice, followed by a cool even fermentation, ensures that the fresh flavours of the variety are preserved in the final wine.
