Wine tasting notes

Enticing citrus and tropical fruit aromas lead to fresh, zesty flavors of pineapple, lemon-lime, mango and green fig, backed by a racy acidity. Herbal undertones shine through on the mineral-tinged finish.

eRobertParker.com #215 Oct 2014 - Neal Martin - The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is missing some varietal character on the nose. The palate is better with light green apple and pear drop notes, with a pretty finish that partly compensates for the aromatics.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2012)87 pts

May/June '13 by Stephen Tanzer - Bright, light silver-yellow. Subtle aromas of lime peel, licorice and fresh herbs, plus a whiff of pine. Supple and slightly sweet; a rather tropical, almost glyceral style of sauvignon blanc with soft acidity and immediate appeal. Nicely full in the mouth. Indaba is a brand owned by its importer Cape Classics; Bruwer Raats makes the wines.

Wine Spectator (2013)86 pts

Web Only 2014 - The brisk lemon zest, white asparagus and floral notes stay zippy through the straw-tinged finish. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (2011)86 pts

Green plum and tart gooseberry aromas and flavors lead the way of this lively selection. Linear and direct on the palate, it has refreshing notes of lime rind, sweet grass and a touch of white flower. Clean and balanced; drink now. — L.B. (11/1/2012)

Hint of anise on brisk, taut 2013 ex Robertson, with focused green apple fruit & gentle acid grip

Vinification Notes

Grapes were sourced from select vineyard sites in Robertson (65%), Paarl (20%) and Elgin (15%), characterized mainly by calcareous red Karoo clay and decomposed granite soils. Vines range in age from 6-16 years. Approximately 20% of the vines were dry farmed, low-yielding bush vines. Grapes from the cooler coastal regions bring a zesty citrus and herbal character, while warm climate fruit imparts a tropical fruit profile and a fuller texture. The grapes were harvested in the cool early morning hours, then crushed and gently pressed. After the juice was chilled and settled, it was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks. Approximately 20% of the wine was aged on its lees for three months before blending and bottling.
