Food Matching

An excellent aperitif and party wine, Chilean Sauvignon Blancs such as this are not only versatile but, like Sauvignon Blancs in general, are also a gift when it comes to matching otherwise challenging ingredients such as asparagus and smoked foods. This wine can stand up to vinegar, and so is excellent with all kinds of salads, but it can also take the heat, making it a good match for lighter Thai dishes. You can't go wrong pairing it with fish and shellfish, but avoid creamy sauces and anything too salty.

Wine tasting notes

Pale yellow in color, transparent. Deeply fruity, intense notes of tropical fruits, peach, pineapple and hints of gooseberry. A fresh, crispy, well balanced wine with nice refreshing acidity that makes it appealing and friendly.

Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013)88 pts

June 2014 - Luis Gutierrez - The 2013 Montes Classic Series Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from Casablanca, about 30 kilometers from the sea in the Valparaiso zone on sandy soils that produce light, elegant wines. This 2013 has a very clean aroma with notes of gooseberry and cut grass, with nerve, good freshness and a mineral feeling, flowery and citric. Drink now.

Wine Spectator (2014)87 pts

Web Only 2015 - A grassy-tasting white, with flavors of ripe melon and citrus. Sea salt and peppery notes emerge on the crisp finish.

Wine Enthusiast (2011)87 pts

Varietally and regionally correct, with green, grassy, punchy aromas of citrus, white pepper and jalapeño. This is prickly in the mouth, with lively acidity and flavors of lime, scallion, green apple and bell pepper. It finishes with cut and juicy acids. — M.S. (9/1/2012)
