Wine tasting notes

This outstanding old dessert wine is deep tawny in colour, with an aroma featuring wood aged rancio, elegant brandy spirit and hints of dried fruits and spices. The palate has a firm rich texture, with chocolate and caramel favours and a persistent aftertaste of nuts and rancio characters. The finish is balanced with fine spirit characters producing an excellent drying finish.

Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (NV)90 pts

Jun 2016 - Reviewer : Lisa Perrotti-Brown. The NV Museum Reserve Antique Tawny is pale amber/tawny in color and seriously nutty with a walnut and Christmas cake-laced nose; spirituous notes of brandy waft alongside caramel, treacle and earth. Rich, concentrated and with good length, this wine is sweet and packed with flavor.

Sep/Oct 06 .By Josh Raynolds. Dark amber. Nutty, tangy and fresh on the nose, with exotic aromas of candied orange, toffee, cherry pit and raspberry. Wild, exotic and compelling; a riot of sweet, nutty fruit flavors in conjunction with a viscous texture. The finish is enlivened by refreshing acids. This is really suave.

A pale tawny in color, this complex sweet wine features notes of honey, fig and citrus. It’s silky in texture, even if the alcohol does show through a bit on the finish.

Vinification Notes

The grapes are fermented on skins for several days to extract flavour and body then fortified with brandy spirit. After many years of maturation, a selection of older and younger wines are judiciously blended to produce a complexity and balance of fruit and aged characters.
