Wine tasting notes

Opaque black in colour, with flashes of violet and an ethereal, highly complex nose with notes of red and black fruits, spices, smoke, forest groves and sweet, fresh wood. The palate has excellent breadth and depth of juicy fruit. The acidity is fresh and the tannins are firm but fine-textured, supporting the berry flavours well on the long, elegant finish.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2012) - 91 pts

Wine Advocate #212. April 2014. Reviewer : Luis Gutierrez - The 2012 Malbec Terroir is produced from fruit sourced from different calcareous vineyards within the Uco Valley, I see a jump in freshness, despite the warmer vintage. The fruit is redder, with notes of cherries and hints of curry and other spices, very fluid and fresh. Great value and great Malbec. Drink now-2017.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2013) - 89 pts

Mar/Apr '16. Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of currant, cherry, tobacco, leather and mocha. Suave and fine-grained, with lightly herbal flavors of redcurrant, plum and currant complicated by a hint of dried flowers. Riper than the Malbec Clásico but still a bit pinched on the back half, and without quite the depth of flavor of the Appellation bottlings.-- Stephen Tanzer

Wine Spectator (2013) - 88 pts

Nov 15 - Features accents of dried beef and hoisin sauce to the roasted plum and dried berry flavors. Notes of green herbs show on the finish. A firm and fleshy red. Drink now

James Suckling (2013) - 90 pts

A spicy and fruity malbec. Shows the new style that people like. And an excellent price. Drink and enjoy.

Tim Atkin (2011) - 92 pts

A big step up from the “classic” Malbec, this represents a quantum leap in quality from 2011, with evident freshness and finer fruit flavours. Very aromatic yet winningly understated at the same time, it’s one of the best commercial Malbecs on the market, made in a new and welcome style. Drink: 2014-17
