Wine tasting notes

The Armand de Brignac Rosé is a bright and lively cuvée with layers of complexity. Crafted by adding 15% of still red wine to the final blend, the Pinot Noir is harvested from old vines that produce fruit with great flavor intensity. This provides a deeper texture to the champagne and red fruit nuances, making it a perfect wine to enjoy from the start to the end of the night. Strawberry, currants and cherry abound on the nose, with floral hints and a touch of sweet almond. The red grape dominance brings a structured palate filled with black fruits, cherries and hints of baked pastry. The hint of Chardonnay brings more lightness and elegance.

Winery information

Champagne Armand De Brignac

12th and 13th generation wine growers, Jean-Jacques Cattier and his son, Alexandre, craft the prestige cuvées of Armand de Brignac. Their dream was to create a champagne of the most exceptional quality, that would represent the best of the best from the region, where their family have grown vines for more than 250 years.
The Cattier family is based in the Montagne de Reims and own 33 hectares of vines across some of the most lauded crus in Champagne, including the villages of Rilly-la-Montagne, Chigny-les-Roses and Ludes.
The fruit selection is guided by the intimate knowledge the Cattier family have of the tapestry of vineyards in Champagne, after working the land for more than 250 years.
Each year they search for the plots that present fruit with the most remarkable character – regardless of cru – from what Mother Nature presented from the season.
Sustainability is a core principle of the Cattier’s vineyard management and their owned lands are certified HVE level 3 – the highest grading from the French government – acknowledging the level of care they give to the environment, to protect it for future generations.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (NV) - 90 pts

The Armand de Brignac NV Brut Rosé is an intense salmon colored blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay sourced in the Montage de Reims, Côte des Blancs and Valée de la Marne and comprises the vintages of 2009, 2010 and 2012. The bouquet is intensely fruity yet clear, fine and well-defined. Full-bodied, round, vinous and elegant on the palate, this cuvée reveals a grippy mineral freshness and lingering structure. Persistent finish. Powerful yet pure. The cooler the better. Tasted from magnum and lot L107D8 in April 2018. The 750-milliliter bottle sells for $400. (NV) - 16 pts

50% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier. 2009, 2010, 2012. Dosage 8.5 g/l. Mid rose. They like dark rosé. He prefers it to light salmon – unlike his father – to distinguish it from the Brut. Not much nose. Quite rich, candied rose-petal aromas and less pronounced acidity than the Brut. A little sudden finish.
