Wine tasting notes
Blackberries, raspberries and cassis mingle together with spices and dark chocolate and simply explode on the medium to full-bodied palate. A powerful wine with a strong, lingering finish.

This is a good wine to serve at a more formal dinner party if you are uncertain of what wines your guests will enjoy. South African Cabernet's such as this have elegance and structure, and appeal to lovers of New World Wine as well as to traditionalists who haven't experimented much beyond France in general and Bordeaux in particular. In their excellent tome The Simple Art of Marrying Food and Wine, Malcolm Gluck and Mark Hix suggest Venison escalope with Chestnuts and Chanterelles as a match for South African Cabernet Sauvignon, a great dinner party dish by any standard. It will also go well with most red meats and game, as well as with stews. Avoid too much spice, cream and salt, as well as smoked ingredients.
