Wine tasting notes

The Glass Collection Chardonnay has a bright and brilliant colour. The wine displays healthy aromas of citrus, lime, melon while on the palate it is balanced and has a complex cacophony of the fruit and a fresh mineral finish.

Oct 2013 - Neal Martin - The 2012 Glass Collection Chardonnay was fermented and aged in stainless steel. It has a taut, linear bouquet that exhibits more focus than the Grand Vin Chardonnay. The palate is crisp and lithe on the entry but after this, it seems to lack some vigor and comes across quite malic and slightly raw on the finish. I have encountered better Glass Collection Chardonnay from Glenelly in the past

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2013) - 89 pts

June 2015 by Stephen Tanzer - Pale greenish-yellow. Rather Chablis-like aromas of cool lime, grapefruit and crushed stone. Juicy, cool and quite dry, in fact almost austere, with crushed stone, apple, pear and citrus peel flavors accompanied by almost Sauvignon-like lemon drop. Bright natural acidity contributes cut. Crop levels for Chardonnay here are generally in the range of 8 or 8-1/2 tons per hectare, according to winemaker Luke O'Cuinneagain.

Wine Spectator (2013) - 88 pts

Nov 2014 - A crowd-pleaser, with apple, honeysuckle and pear notes, kept lively by a hint of shortbread that runs through the lightly toasty finish.

Wine Enthusiast (2010) - 86 pts

Round but lifted with racy pineapple-infused acidity in the mouth, this Chard offers ripe melon and red apple flavors to balance the serious cut. A hint of peach pit nuttiness stays through the finish. ? L.B. (11/1/2011)

Tom Cannavan (2011) - 88 pts

A wine made only from estate fruit (as are all of Glenelly's wines). "An alternative to Sauvignon Blanc", says Luke and this indeed has zest and would be ideal as an aperitif. Lovely lemony freshness, a bit of mealiness and richness, but cool and clear. Nice bit of weight on the palate which has texture and creaminess, and there's a melon juiciness, as well as hinting at a little bit of green crunch, to keep it fresh.
