Wine tasting notes

Intense straw yellow. The nose is fragrant, elegant and intense with aromas of sweet fruit, pineapple, candied orange, acacia flowers, rose and vanilla. Full and compact on the palate it shows exotic, mineral and persistent flavours with pleasant notes of pear and cream.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013) - 93 pts

May 2016 - Monica Larner - A blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Picolit, the 2013 Friuli Colli Orientali Illivio is a true standout in this slightly cooler vintage. The bouquet is rich and penetrating with creamy peach, apricot and white almond. Honey and toasted pine nut are also present in balanced measure. The wine is tightly stitched together with a compact texture and an enduring mouthfeel. The results are stunning.

Wine Spectator (2013) - 88 pts

A smoky white, with rich hints of salted butter accenting the glazed apricot and lemon curd flavors. Well-meshed, featuring a subtle finish. Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Picolit. Drink now through 2019.

James Suckling (2012) - 92 pts

A wine with sliced apples, pineapple and lemon curd. A medium to full body with hints of apple pie and honey, follows through to a pie-crust aftertaste. A rich but fresh wine. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (2013) - 88 pts

A blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Picolit, this offers muted scents of wildflower, toasted oak and orchard fruit. The palate offers oak-driven vanilla, butterscotch, candied nectarine and yellow apple skin.
