Wine tasting notes

This wine is pale lemon in colour. The nose is full of ripe fruity notes married with elegant aromas of fresh herbs, green apples, citrus fruit and grapefruit. The palate is refreshing and zesty with great flavour intensity which persists on the long finish.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013) - 89 pts

Wine Advocate #216 Jan 2015 - Jay Miller - Next is the winery's flagship, the 2013 Martín Codax, pure Albariño, a textbook example of the appellation, always a reliable label, which might not be terribly exciting but it's always very well crafted and clean with varietal aromas of white flowers and fruit. As many of the more commercial Albariños, it has 3.5 grams of unfermented sugar that helps balance the acidity, with very tasty flavors. A good introduction to Rías Baixas to drink young and fresh.

JancisRobinson.com (2011) - 16 pts

Tasted May 2012 - Has the apricot and peach but not the floral so much. Perhaps that’s a bit mean – this does as much as you could ask for Albariño at the (lower) price. (RH)

Wine Spectator (2014) - 86 pts

Feb 28, 2015 - A smooth texture carries focused flavors of pear, almond and ginger, backed by gentle acidity. A round, generous style.

Wine Enthusiast (2012) - 88 pts

Equal parts lemon blossom, minerality, peach and sea foam drive the nose of this Galician white toward a round, wide-bodied palate. Flavors of oyster shell, saline, nectarine and apple are all proper and pleasant, while saline and minerality control the finish. — M.S. (5/1/2014)

Decantalo - "Color- Straw yellow with lemon coloured reflections. Clean and bright, with some slight bubles showing its youth.Nose - Floral notes like touch-me-nots, jasmin etc., citrus fruit (orange, grapefruit etc) and fleshy white fruit like apples.Flavour - Enwrapping sensation on the palate, with a well integrated acidity and a long retro-olfaction with persistent notes of white and citrus fruit.
