Wine tasting notes

Deep ruby red. Offers up aromas of well-ripened wild berries, blackberry preserves, tobacco leaf, and tanned leather. An expansive, generous palate displays a rich mouthfeel, developing into a lengthy finale marked by fruit liqueur.

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2015) - 94 pts

Campogiovanni is an estate run by San Felice in Chianti Classico, and its 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Campogiovanni is a lovely, dark and savory wine to serve with a platter of fatty charcuterie and aged tomme cheese. The bouquet is elegant and linear, showing a pretty ensemble of dark fruit, cassis and dried cherry. This vintage is particularly well balanced, with soft spice and crisp acidity competing for your attention and keeping things bright and interesting. An ample 85,000 bottles were produced - Monica Larner

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2015) - 92 pts

Good deep, lively red. Expressive, complex nose offers blueberry, strawberry, cinnamon, sassafras, old rare leather and iron. Then similarly complex on the supple palate, but with good energy and focus for such an easygoing, broad wine. The notes of red fruit and sweet spices linger nicely on the savory finish - Ian D'Agata

JancisRobinson.com (2015) - 15.5 pts

Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby. Exotically spiced red-fruit nose with hints of orange peel. Quite sweet and rich, and a little singed, but the juicy acidity pulls the whole up on the finish - Walter Speller

Decanter (2015) - 96 pts

AB - Charming and velvety sweet and spicy notes of jam and Chinese five-spice. Intense and full bodied. Plenty of vanilla and white spice on the back palate Andrea Briccarello - Decanter July 2021
