About the Winery

Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Immersed in an idyllic valley in Burgundy, inhabiting the heart of the prestigious vineyards of Morey Saint Denis, lies the reputable Domaine Taupenot-Merme. A family-run winery, its rich heritage runs deep into the archives of French viticulture, tracing back seven generations.

The Domaine is run by siblings Romain and Virginie Taupenot, who have taken the helm in maintaining the family's legacy while infusing a contemporary approach to wine-making. The Domaine sprawls over a diverse 13 hectares, its vines meticulously sprinkled across the renowned appellations of Chambolle Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin and Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin. This wide array of terroirs has nurtured a multifaceted collection of wines, each with its nuanced characteristics that reflect the unique conditions of their birthplace.

The Taupenot-Merme winery's commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for the land shines through in the quality of their produce. The use of organic farming techniques has led to healthier vines and more expressive wines. Their labour-intensive practices uphold the utmost respect for the ecosystem; vines are ploughed, no synthetic-treatments are employed and a minimum of sulphur is used.

The Domaine’s wine-making ethos emphasises on preserving the raw natural characteristics of the grapes and ensuring each vintage retains its authentic terroir-inspired personality. Bursting with complexity and elegance, their wines are a synergetic blend of heft and delicacy.

However, it is not only the exceptional quality of Taupenot-Merme wines that have led to their global acclaim, but also the warm and hospitable DNA of the family winery. Visitors are embraced with a heart-warming tour of the vineyards, an intimate view of the wine-making process and the opportunity to savour the unique flavours of the region engulfed in every sip!

An epitome of authentic French viticulture – the Domaine, Taupenot-Merme evokes a compelling narrative that has been beautifully etched into each vine, each grape, each bottle of wine that graces our cellars. Just like the best stories, aren't shared; but savoured.
