About the Winery

Domaine Barge

Located in the exquisite region of Côte-Rôtie, Domaine Barge is one of the oldest family owned wineries in France. This quaint and authentic winery is situated in the northern Rhône region, renowned for producing some of the most elite wines in the world. Over its long and illustrious history, the winery has maintained an unwavering commitment to creating high-quality wines that embody the rich terroir of the region.

The Barge family has been involved in the local wine industry for several generations, however it wasn't until Pierre Barge and his wife Jeanne dove into viticulture in the 1970s that Domaine Barge, as it is known today, started producing exclusive cuvees under their family name. Their passion and love for winemaking set new yardsticks of excellence in the region.

Covering around 7.25 hectares of land. The vineyard is planted with Syrah and Viognier grapes. Their viticulture methods prioritise the health of the land, using sustainable practices such as minimal intervention and natural composting to ensure the soil's long-term vitality. Their vines, which are separated into the Côte Blonde and Côte Brune, depending upon their location are planted on steep terraces to maximise sun exposure.

In the winery, each parcel of fruit is vinified separately to create wines that offer a remarkable expression of their specific vineyard site. Traditional winemaking techniques, including extended maceration and ageing in oak barrels, are used to unlock the deepest flavours and textures of the Syrah and Viognier grapes.

As a result, the wines of Domaine Barge are celebrated for their complex bouquets, distinctively mineral-forward character, and overall quality. Each bottle echoes the unique character of the Côte-Rôtie region and stands as a proud testament to the dedication of the Barge family.

It is Domaine Barge, with its perfect blend of tradition and innovation, that has established itself as a beacon of quality in the Rhône Valley. Its wines are a true pleasure to any wine aficionado, echoing the history and heritage of one France's finest wine regions. As the Barge family continues to innovate. Their wines will undoubtedly remain a sought after choice for wine lovers all over the globe.
