Product Notes

Tenute Lunelli's Tenuta Castelbuono Carapace wine hails from the beautiful Umbrian region in Italy. Aided by its unique turtle-like carapace-shaped winery, this iconic premium red wine is a blend of Sangiovese and Sagrantino grapes. It delivers an impressive bouquet of ripe black fruits, hints of earthy truffle and bold spices. On the palate, one can relish jammy dark fruits layered with toasted oak and subtle vanilla undertones. The wine concludes with a silky, robust finish. Its intricate blend makes it an impeccable companion for rich meaty dishes. A bottle of Carapace encapsulates the richness and elegance of authentic Umbrian terroir.

Tasting Notes

A deep, luminous ruby red in colour; concentrated and refined. The nose is a triumph of blackberry jam and blueberries – typical of the variety – with attractive and intense notes of cherries in brandy, carob and rose petals. Its traditionally-styled profile is further enhanced by liquorice and chocolate notes. It has a distinct creaminess on the palate, along with very powerful, mellow fruit. The finish is long and persistent, with precisely defined tannins of rare finesse, elegance and gentleness.
