Product Notes

Bodegas Lustau Manzanilla Papirusa wine is a special offering from a lauded Spanish winery, Lustau. Known for its intense straw colour, this delectable wine boasts a well-balanced sharpness, evoking sensations of sea air and saline, typical of Manzanilla wines. Ripe notes of almonds and olives, melded with undertones of green apples, provide a unique, tangy taste, ending with a dry finish. It's an exceptional accompaniment to seafood dishes, tapas, or on its own as an aperitif. A sip of Papirusa immerses one in its rich Andalusian heritage, providing an unmatched sensory experience no wine connoisseur can miss.

Tasting Notes

Bright yellow colour with golden reflections. This Manzanilla is laced with sea breeze scents and pleasant chamomile and flor aromas. Bone dry and light, fresh and crisp, with a hint of sea salt on the palate. Delicate and refreshingly acid with a lingering aftertaste.

About the Winery

Bodegas Lustau

Bodegas Lustau is a prestigious winery situated in the heart of Jerez, Spain. Established in 1896 by Don José Ruiz-Berdejo, it has since grown to become one of the region’s most renowned sherry producers, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and quality.

Originating as a modest bodega in his own home, Berdejo's initial venture progressed to a significant scale as the company acquired numerous venerable bodegas, expanding both its production and aging capabilities. Today, Bodegas Lustau proudly boasts over 20 hectares of dedicated vineyards and an enormous cellar capacity housing hundreds of sherry casks.

Unlike many other wineries in the region, Bodegas Lustau adheres to the traditional Solera system. This focused method involves the mixing of younger sherries with older vintages; a process that bestows a unique complexity and richness to their creations. Interestingly this practice sets Lustau apart, establishing an unmistakable signature style that is characterised by depth and variety across its portfolio.

Lustau offers a diverse range of sherries from bone-dry finos to decadently sweet pedro ximénez, ensuring a tipple to cater to every palate. They are the only bodega to produce their wines in each of the three sherry producing cities, which are Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda’. Moreover, the house's fame has travelled beyond the Spanish borders, gaining international acclaim for its quality and innovation.

Uncompromised dedication to authenticity and tradition has distinguished Bodegas Lustau as a true icon of Spanish wine production. It's the perfect destination for wine enthusiasts seeking to discover the art of sherry making and to appreciate the meticulous care poured into every bottle. With its roots deeply embedded in tradition, this esteemed winery preserves the historic character of the region while innovating to deliver delightful sherries that are enjoyed worldwide.
