Tasting Note

The 2021 vintage displays remarkable intensity in the glass with dark, inky ruby-purple hues. Abundant fruit aromas of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry jam and black currant are interwoven with accents of baking spices, sage and graphite. A voluminous entry introduces sumptuous layers of chocolate-covered blueberry, tobacco, mocha, vanilla and toasted oak. The mouthfeel is concentrated and elegant, with round, vibrant tannins that carry into a commanding finish. A wine of immense staying power that will evolve favourably for many years to come.

About the Winery

DAOU

Nestled amidst the mesmerising expanses of California's Paso Robles region, DAOU Winery is a veritable haven of viticulture. It is a place where passionate artistry melds with scientific precision, resulting in wines of unrivalled quality and expressiveness.

The winery is presided over by the DAOU brothers, Georges and Daniel, who've imbibed their passion for winemaking from their Lebanese forefathers. The duo ensures that the essence of their heritage harmoniously coalesces with the terroir of the Golden State, yielding wines that are profoundly expressive of their unique identity.

Spread over an expansive 212 acres, the vineyard is punctuated with rolling hills. The environment, furthermore, blessed with a consistent marine layer induced cool breeze, provides the perfect conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varietals. Sun-drenched during the day and considerably cool after sunset, these climatic idiosyncrasies contribute towards striking balance and elegance in the wines produced.

The winery is also renowned for its adept use of technological innovation in the vineyards and cellars. Forward-thinking practices including drone surveillance, micro-fermentation, and barrel experimentation fundamentally enhance the winemaking process and, consequently, the quality of the wine.

DAOU Winery also offers an exemplary visitors' experience. From sumptuous culinary offerings paired with exquisite wines, to the dazzling vista of the vine-swathed hills from the tasting room, it truly is a sensory delight. Whether you're a scholar of enology or a novice to the world of wines, a day spent at DAOU Winery is bound to be an enlightening and enjoyable experience.
