Product Notes

Brash Higgins CHN Chenin Blanc is a delightful Australian wine packed with distinctive characteristics. It's bright yet complex, with a vibrant core of green apple, lemon zest, and honey flavours. A hint of delicate minerality adds an exquisite depth. The grapes for this brilliantly refreshing wine are hand-picked, ensuring unrivalled quality. Aged on lees for a significant period, the resulting wine exhibits creamy, weighty texture while retaining a remarkable freshness. This Chenin Blanc is by no means conventional, but intriguingly different, resonating a sophisticated balance of ripe fruit and natural acidity. Ideal for sipping on a balmy evening.

Tasting Notes

A sunny yellow in hue, the wine is heady with Chenin perfume of honey, straw, apples, real lemonade and water chestnut. Soft entry with good palate weight, the wine tightens as it flows across the tongue revealing a lick of saline and almost crackles a bit. Good natural acidity with a chalky, lemon pucker and notes of reglisse or liquorice on the finish make a second approach all the more appealing

About the Winery

Brash Higgins

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of McLaren Vale, South Australia resides the beguiling vineyard, Brash Higgins. Named after the pseudonym of its versatile American creator, Brad Hickey, the winery encapsulates his audacious narrative, an expression of grit, vision and creativity entwined with the alluring nectar of the vine.

This enchanting winery isn't your typical chronicle of tradition; it was born from both the passion and the cheeky gusto of its founder. After spending decades as a distinguished sommelier in New York, Hickey found himself seduced by the mesmeric beauty and untapped potential of Australia's wine country. It was here that Brash Higgins - a delightful fusion of his name and bold, innovative approach to winemaking - truly came to life.

Enveloped by the pastoral charm of the South Australia's picturesque landscape, Brash Higgins is renowned for its avant-garde approach to viticulture. Spectrum of innovation spans from the experimental use of clay amphorae in the fermentation process to the introduction of otherwise overlooked grape varietals. The resulting production is a distinguished repertoire of wines that tantalise the palate with their unique flavours and exceptional finesse.

As for the vineyards, they thrive under strictly organic farming practices. These vineyards are the backbone of Brash Higgins, each nurtured as an individual expression of the particular terroir, ultimately contributing to the singular character of each wine produced. Hickey's commitment to the purity of his produce manifests itself in each bottle, a testament to his belief in creating an authentic connection between the drinker and the rich, fertile soils of his adopted homeland.

Visiting the winery is indeed an immersive experience. Languid afternoons can be wholesomely spent savouring the nuanced offerings of their cellar door and feasting your eyes on the abundant natural beauty that unfolds around each corner.

Venturing into the charming universe of Brash Higgins offers a textured journey into the essence Australian winemaking. It begs the traveller to delve into the complex tapestry of the land, as told through the voice, of Brad Hickey an audacious winemaker.
