Product Notes

Valdespino Manzanilla Deliciosa Pago de Miraflores is an exquisite Spanish wine, lovingly crafted in the Andalusian region. This dry sherry boasts a delicate, golden colour and an enticing aroma of almonds and yeasts, a testament to its traditional aging process. On the palate, its mouth-watering acidity harmoniously pairs with a subtle salty tang, typical of Manzanilla wines. The aftertaste lingers, unveiling a complex character interwoven with hints of chamomile, sea breeze and apple. Exceptionally versatile, it serves as an excellent companion to tapas, cheese and fresh seafood. A true gem, it captures the essence of Spanish winemaking tradition.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow coloured, with a delicate yeasty, bready note on the nose, as well as a hint of flower blossom. On the palate it is very dry, crisp and fresh with a slightly saline finish.

About the Winery

Valdespino

Founded centuries ago in 1430, Valdespino is one of the oldest and most eminent bodegas in Jerez, producing distinctive, world-class sherry. Welcoming all who wish to find impeccable quality interwoven with extensive tradition, Valdespino winery is a jewel trove nestled in the heart of Spain's famed Sherry Triangle. The unique terroir of this region, along with the dedication of its winemakers, gives birth to sherries with unique characters and unmatched complexity.

Valdespino's cherished reputation is no doubt due to its adherence to the traditional sherry-making methods. Unlike many bodegas that may rush the delicate process, Valdespino patiently follows a time-honoured ‘solera’ method. This involves gradually blending sherries of various ages, thereby ensuring stability and maintaining the distinctive taste savoured by sherry aficionados around the globe.

The bodega's stalwarts include the famed Fino Inocente and Palo Cortado Cardenal; each, a reflection of the winery's dedication to vintage sherries. Inocente, in particular, is renowned as the last of the single vineyard Finos. Basked under the generous Spanish sun and fed by the fertile albariza soil, Valdespino's vineyard, Macharnudo Alto, stands unrivalled in yielding grapes with extraordinary flavour and finesse.

Site visits to Valdespino are occasional affairs interlaced with delightful surprises. As visitors amble, down the labyrinth of bodegas the sight of American oak casks stacked in towering rows greets the eye, while the scent of fermenting grapes engages the senses. The journey is not complete without a mouthful of the winery’s signature sherries that dance upon the palate in a sublime marriage of timeless tradition and unrivalled quality.

From the vine and to the bottle, every step of Valdespino’s winemaking mantra carries an echo of the ages. The winery's unwavering dedication to traditional practices and quality ingredients is evident in every single sip. Simply put, Valdespino is a must-visit for both seasoned wine connoisseurs and those simply seeking, a wine with an old soul.
