Product Notes

Giesen Estate Riesling is a delightful New Zealand wine, graced with a light straw hue. It exudes fresh and vivid notes of lime, apple, and floral fragrances, sparking invigorating sensory experiences. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine unfolds an impressive blend of juicy sweetness and a compelling acidic balance, granting a refreshing appeal. With an undercurrent of minerality and a long, harmonious finish, it's a veritable treat. Highly versatile, Giesen Estate Riesling pairs wonderfully with a wide range of cuisine but particularly sings with seafood or spicy dishes, making it a crowd-pleasing choice for any gathering.

About the Winery

At the heart of the globally renowned Marlborough region in New Zealand nestles the acclaimed Giesen Winery. Founded on the combined enthusiasm of three German brothers - Theo, Alex and Marcel Giesen in 1981, this distinguished winery has grown stupendously, possessing vineyards in Marlborough, Canterbury and the Waipara region. Their passion for wine was inducted into them while growing up in Germany, characterised by vineyards on the banks of the picturesque Mosel River.

The Giesen name is acclaimed for producing top-notch sauvignon blanc and chardonnay, along with an impressive array of other varieties. Each bottle carefully crafted holds a unique potency reflecting a blend of the brothers' German heritage, passion and their striking New Zealand terroir. The winery, however, exhibits a philosophy of minimum intervention, and sustainability that allows nature to take the reins in winemaking, resulting in pure, authentically flavoured wines.

It is not just about excellent wines however;, Giesen Winery signifies an experience. Visitors are welcomed into a warm and inviting cellar door area designed to aid the exploration of their selection of fine wines. Here, one can partake in tastings and indulge in a delicious menu at the Giesen Cellar Kitchen. The environment sums up what the Giesen brothers value – family, friendship and the simple enjoyment of life.

Touring further into year, the winery’s aesthetics should not go unmentioned. The idyllic backdrop of the Marlborough ranges and the enthralling views of the Wairau plains create an unparalleled environment of tranquillity and serenity.

The Giesen brothers' ambition to make world-class wines while radiating celebration of life tells the story of every single drop in Giesen Wines. As they say, "it’s our life’s work, to make work feel less like work." The Giesen Winery indubitably encapsulates a true passion for wine - a testament to the saying 'work, is indeed, love made visible'.
