A powerful expression of Chardonnay, brimming with fruit flavour and elegance. A buttery toastiness from the oak rounds off the complex hazelnut and citrus flavours.

Oct 2014 - Neal Martin - The 2013 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay was matured sur lie for nine months with 8% tank-fermented Chardonnay added. The nose is well-defined and handles the oak well - creamy rather than buttery. The palate is well-balanced with crisp citrus peel and tropical fruit, well-judged acidity and a harmonious, straight-down-the-line Chardonnay finish that is just delicious. No talking, just drinking!

May 2017 - Bright, light yellow. Sexy scents of yellow peach, pineapple, nutmeg, clove and flowers. Tactile and vibrant, with yellow fruit flavors nicely framed by spicy oak and enlivened by salty minerality and an emerging peppery accent. In contrast to the Unoaked Chardonnay, this wine delivers stone and citrus fruit intensity, albeit in a dry, classic package. Lovely Chardonnay with good phenolic grip and length. -- Stephen Tanzer

Tasted May 2014 - Chalky, bright, dry and textural. A little short but has that lovely leesy, mealy mouthfeel typical of Chardonnay. (RH)

Industry benchmark New World style, 2014 is a lesson in oak restraint, allowing full expression of sumptuous fruit, lees fatness & appealing beeswax scents. Fine balance of force & subtlety improves even on excellent 2013.

Vinification Notes
