Wine tasting notes

The Menut is sourced from adjacent vineyards to the Mas Martinet proprietary plots with its ultra-minerally schist soil. The intense aromatics beckon scents of black pepper, wild spices, plum and lavender, with a backdrop of blueberry and cinnamon. In the mouth, lush front flavors of blueberry and mountain fruit lie adrift on a bed of silky tannin. This wine has incredible concentration for its price point, along with a lively acid structure and seamless minerality,.

Oct 2015 - Jeb Dunnock - Proprietress Sara Perez?s entry level Priorat that?s made from 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 20% Carignan and 10% Merlot, the 2013 Menut spent 14 months in 300-liter French oak (30% new) and was bottled unfiltered. It?s loaded with fruit and has tons of jammy blackberry, raspberry, licorice and vanilla bean to go with a full-bodied, rounded, sexy style on the palate. At the price, it?s a no brainer and will continue to dish out plenty of pleasure over the coming 4-5 years.

Jan 2016 - Limpid ruby-red. Lush, expansive black and blue fruits, suggestions of cracked pepper and fresh flowers. Juicy and seamless, vibrant blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors gain weight in the glass. In the finish, smooth tannins slowly shape the clinging, ample and lively wine.-- Josh Raynolds

Tasted June 2015 - Mid cherry red. Stunning fragrance of red fruit and scrubland, with a hint of the region’s dusty minerality. Fine and fresh, the alcohol really not showing at all. Scented on the mid palate and a fine dry length, the stony Priorat character showing through at the end. VGV (JH)

Nov 15, 2013 - This assertive red delivers rich, jammy flavors of kirsch and plum, with chocolate, licorice and spicy balsamic accents that are lively and racy. Delivers firm tannins and tart acidity. Drink now through 2019.
