Wine tasting notes

Refreshing hints of citrus fruits and apricots on the nose. Easy drinking qualities on the front palate gradually give way to greater depth. Flavours of ripe apples and a slight touch of honey. Dry and long on the finish.

May 2017 - A snappy and lean blend of Pinot Grigio and Verduzzo, the 2016 Masianco is intended for informal and ideally outdoor consumption. This is the quintessential picnic or beachfront wine. It quenches your thirst and refreshes the palate thanks to its bright favors of grapefruit and passion fruit. Tasted May 2016 - Lovely slightly nutty pear aroma of the Verduzzo. Really tangy, fresh but quite full bodied. Pinot Grigio has brought freshness and greater delicacy. Almond quality on the palate. Fresh and well balanced but not very long. (JH)

Vinification Notes

The two grape varieties were vinified separately. Pinot Grigio was vinified immediately after harvest to enhance freshness and bouquet. The malolactic was halted before completion. The Verduzzo grapes were picked slightly over-ripe, then further ripened on racks for three weeks to concentrate the fruit. It started its fermentation in stainless steel tanks and was then transferred to barriques where it also completed the malolactic. Both varieties are aged for three months, Pinot Grigio in stainless steel tanks, Verduzzo in barriques. The wine is then assembled and aged for a further forty-five days in bottle.
