Product Notes

C.V.N.E. Contino Viña del Olivo wine is an exquisite Spanish red wine. Produced from an ancient olive-tree-lined vineyard, its unique character mirrors the Rioja Alavesa's rich heritage. This deep ruby-coloured wine has an impressive aromatic complexity: toasted spices, dark fruits, and vanilla undertones from oak ageing. Its palate is concentrated and powerful, showcasing lush black fruits enveloped in velvety tannins. Layered nuances of cocoa, spices, and earthiness linger on the persistent finish. This full-bodied, balanced wine, reflecting impressive craftsmanship, is a hidden jewel among the world's finest vintages. Serve it with hearty meats for an unforgettable dining experience.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red with attractive youth, clear and medium-high tones. Very intense nose with an initial spicy touch that leads to blackberry and currant fruit and final evolution towards balsamic aromas such as aniseed, mint and licorice. The palate has good tannins for conservation and is broad and vinous, with an after taste of ripe fruit and cocoa tones

About the Winery

C.V.N.E

C.V.N.E, Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, is a family-owned winery situated in the Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. This historic winery, renowned in Spain and globally, is an enduring legacy of the Real de Asúa family. Founded in 1879 by Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa, the C.V.N.E winery has, for over a century, produced wines that have captivated the palates of even the most discerning wine enthusiasts.

The winery is composed of four individual wineries: Cune, Imperial, Viña Real, and Contino, each with its unique story and distinct method of wine production. Cune is the initial and the most recognised, with its workings based in Haro. Imperial, on the other hand, pays homage to the flagship wine produced at the turn of the 20th century. Viña Real, nestled on the Cerro de la Mesa, is renowned for its individualised, single vineyard wines. Contino, the last of the four wineries, specialises in Reserva and Gran Reserva, showcasing the potential of its single vineyards.

The wineries maintain a perfect symbiosis of tradition and modernity- from the exceptional and innovative winemaking facilities to their adoption of traditional wine-making processes. Apart from wine production, C.V.N.E is also famed for its distinctive and avant-garde architectural designs. The Viña Real facility, an impressive barrel designed by Bordeaux-based architect Philippe Mazières, stands as a testament to the winery's enduring love for quality and detail.

With a rich historical presence and a portfolio spanning a diverse range, C.V.N.E has affirmed a position of prestige in global viniculture. Whether you are a novice or an aficionado, C.V.N.E offers an immersive wine experience like no other. Showcasing some of the finest grapes in the Rioja region it’s sumptuous array ensures a delightful exploration into the world of Spanish wines.
