About the Winery

Domaine Alain Chavy

The Domaine Alain Chavy is a remarkable winery located in Puligny-Montrachet, at the heart of Burgundy's revered Côte d'Or wine region, in France. The vineyard is cradled amidst the greenery of this iconic wine-producing region and is run by none other than Alain Chavy himself.

Built over three centuries ago, the vineyard was lovingly passed on through generations of the Chavy family. Alain and his brother grew up exploring the lush vineyards, learning the art of winemaking first-hand from their father, before they took up the family business in 1998. A falling out between the brothers in 2003 led them to divide the vineyard between themselves, resulting in Alain receiving his 7 hectares that he uses for the Domaine Alain Chavy today.

The vineyards slope down the fertile hillsides of Puligny-Montrachet, its terroir basking in the rewards of favourable climate and ideal geological composition. The grapes harvested from these vineyards are deployed by Alain in creating his admirable line of wines.

Domaine Alain Chavy focuses primarily on white wines, with the star of their show being their Chardonnays. These are characterised by an intense minerality and richness that is typical of the Puligny-Montrachet region, By using old oak barrels for fermentation and storing the wine on its lees until bottling, the Chardonnays crafted at Domaine Alain Chavy exhibit remarkable complexity and elegance.

Alain's passion for winemaking and pursuit of quality is evident in every bottle that emerges from the Domaine Alain Chavy. When you open it and pour yourself a glass, you are not just enjoying a delightful wine but also experiencing a piece of Alain's familial heritage, his commitment to tradition and his love for the bountiful land that nurtures his vineyards. It is this harmony of tradition and innovation that truly sets Domaine Alain Chavy apart from others in the viticulture world.

Hosting a small yet talented team, Domaine Alain Chavy continues to vinify outstanding wines, that effortlessly capture the essence of their home in every sip. Observing a delicate marriage of tradition and innovation.
