Product Notes

Located in the heart of the Yakima Valley, Betz Family Winery's La Serenne Syrah is an exceptional display of winemaking finesse. This handcrafted, single-vineyard wine exudes vibrant aromas of blackberry, violet, and black pepper, underlined with subtle notes of chocolate. Crafted with meticulous attention, the palate offers robust dark fruit flavours, balanced perfectly with a spicy minerality and refined tannins. Betz Family’s La Serenne delivers a full-bodied syrah, boasting an intensity that is so quintessentially Yakima Valley, while also possessing an elegant structure reflective of their family-oriented winemaking approach. This is a must-try for Syrah enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes

The 2018 La Serenne shines from the moment it’s poured with dark, glass-coating, black-purple color. The aromatics show the characteristic Boushey “wildness”: smoked meat, lavender, fennel, white pepper, and tarragon swirl along with inky blueberry, marionberry, and cacao nibs. The palate is rich and vibrant adding cracked espresso bean, clove, and dusty mineral tone. The polished tannic backbone indicates long cellar life, at least 15-20 years…if you can manage to resist it now

About the Winery

Betz Family Winery

Nestled in the verdant swathes of Columbia Valley, Washington, Betz Family Winery is an embodiment of the quintessential American vineyard steeped in class, authenticity, and distinct craftsmanship. Housing a collection of masterful blends, the winery enjoys an enduring legacy of over 20 years fine wine production.

Established in 1997, Betz Family Winery has gradually evolved into a luminous beacon within America's burgeoning wine scene, offering a unique fusion of tradition and innovation. The family- run establishment diligently nurtures select vineyards from the region to create decadent varietals that encapsulate the rich diversity of Columbia Valley's terroir.

This winery is the brainchild of Bob and Cathy Betz, who have poured their passion for wine and exhaustive knowledge into sculpting its unparalleled reputation. Since 2011, the Betz couple entrusted the reins to the new successors, Steve and Bridgit Griessel, who uphold the founding ethos of commitment, quality and integrity; all whilst pushing the boundaries of vinicultural invention.

Betz Family Winery's celebrated portfolio comprises a line of handcrafted wines; each birthed from a meticulous process of selective grape blending and patient ageing. Worth mentioning is the ‘Pére de Famille’, an exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon noted for it's insistent complexity, alongside the popular ‘Bésoleil’, a Southern Rhône inspired blend. They are truly testaments to the winery’s finely honed artistry.

The winery is open mostly for its routinely-held special events; during which ardent connoisseurs and curious novices are invited to engage with the Griessels themselves. This affords visitors the opportunity of personally understanding what makes Betz Family Winery truly exceptional.

In conclusion, the charm of Betz Family Winery lies within it's authenticity in producing meticulous wines of quality that bear the distinctive stamp of Washington's Columbia Valley. Visitors to the estate will leave not as spectators but as part of a global family, brought together by a shared appreciation of fine wine.
