Product Notes

Chateau Capbern Saint-Estèphe wine is a sophisticated blend that exudes elegance and depth. From the renowned vineyards of Bordeaux, this French powerhouse boasts robust flavours of blackberries, cherries and hints of earthy undertones. The wine's smoky finish mingles seamlessly with the nuanced taste of sweet spices. Its tannins are supple and well-integrated, revealing a well-structured and balanced wine that lends itself to ageing wonderfully. Suited perfectly to accompany a sumptuous beef roast or a selection of strong, flavoursome cheeses, Chateau Capbern Saint-Estèphe is a testament to the delightful complexity and richness of Bordeaux wines.

Tasting Notes

The sister property of Château Calon-Ségur, Château Capbern is a Cru-Bourgeois punching well above its classification. With excellent structure and intensity, it has charming cassis fruit and structured, fine-grained tannins.

About the Winery

Chateau Capbern

Located in the renowned appellation of Saint-Estephe in the heart of Bordeaux, Chateau Capbern is a captivating winery that is steeped in history. Previously known as Capbern Gasqueton, the vineyard takes pride in its rich lineage that dates back to the 18th century, with its wine being particularly renowned among connoisseurs for its finesse and elegance.

Surrounded by lush greenery, Chateau Capbern spans across 38 hectares. The vineyard is largely planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, whose rich, ripe flavours are reflected in the bottles produced. The winery's unique terroir, featuring gravelly soil with underlying clay, allows the vines to flourish, adding a level of sophistication and complexity to their wine, while the balmy Mediterranean climate aids in the growing process with its endless sunny days, and cool nights required for the grapes to reach full maturation.

The current ownership by Suravenir Insurance, reassures quality due to their investment in improving the winery and the expertise they adorn. Intricate care is taken during each stage of the vinification process, following sustainable practices. Fermenting in temperature-regulated vats and ageing in French oak barrels, the wines of Chateau Capbern capture the essence of Saint-Estephe wonderfully.

Every sip of Chateau Capbern’s handsome reds brings forth a touch of spiciness, perfectly complemented by soft tannins and a balanced acidity. The wines display a rich palate of dark fruits, embodying the classic Bordeaux style, that expertly marries power with refinement.

Visitors to Chateau Capbern are greeted with open arms. Tours of the vineyard and cellar, followed by guided tastings, deliver a first-hand experience of crafting such sublime wines.

Indeed, Chateau Capbern is more than a winery; it’s a testimony to the unfaltering commitment to quality and passion for producing outstanding wines that characterize the Bordeaux region. It is, truely, a must-visit for any wine aficionado.
