Tasting Note

Pale ruby in colour, reflecting both the gentle extraction and the natural character of Grenache. The palate shows grainy, grippy tannins, with a clear expression of the granite soils and a refined, mineral-driven structure.

Product Notes

A.A. Badenhorst's Raaigras Grenache is a distinguished wine originating from the oldest Grenache vineyard in South Africa. It exudes an engaging hue made profound by its strikingly complex savoury flavours. The wine immediately tempts with bold fruit aromas laced with subtle undertones of fynbos and spice. Velvety on the palate, this medium-bodied wine embraces a fine balance of acidity and tannins embedded within luscious red plum and fig notes. Maturing in old casks adds intricate wood nuances to its finish. Truly, this South African gem from A.A. Badenhorst is a red wine lover's delight.

About the Winery

A.A. Badenhorst

Situated in the heart of South Africa's stunning Swartland wine region, lies the impressive A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines winery. Privately nestled on the slopes of the Paardeberg Mountain, the winery boasts 28 hectares of old bush vines, basking under the prolific South African sun.

This extraordinary vineyard has a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Today, it's lovingly nurtured by Adi Badenhorst and his cousin, Hein. The Badenhorst family purchased the estate in 2007, restoring the beautiful old Cape Dutch buildings, and rejuvenating the old vineyards back to glorious life.

The winemaking approach at A.A. Badenhorst is a blend of traditional and innovative, with wine-making methods being passed down through the Badenhorst generations to garner the perfect combinations, of both taste and aroma from the fruit of their vines.

Working tirelessly to create the finest South African wines, the Badenhorst's magic touch is evident in every bottle that leaves their winery.
