Product Notes

Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc is a Californian wine, boasting an exuberant expression of the varietal. Its vibrant, radiant hue invites a taste of the beautifully balanced, aromatic concoction within. The nose reveals elegant notes of lemon zest, green apple, and a hint of fresh grass, mixed with alluring minerality. Your palate is enveloped in crisp acidity with layers of citrus and stone fruit flavours, unfurling into an impressively lengthy finish. This distinctive Sauvignon Blanc showcases a refreshing sophistication, eschewing the typical, powerful tropical notes. It's a lovely tipple for a warm summer’s evening or paired with light, flavourful dishes.

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc is gorgeous. Bright and racy in the glass, the 2021 presents a striking combination of varietal aromas and flavors, but with an added kick of texture from the portion of the wine that is fermented and aged in neutral oak.

About the Winery

Lieu Dit

Established in the heart of California's Santa Ynez Valley, Lieu Dit is a boutique winery that specialises in crafting French-inspired wines. Basking in the excellent Californian climate and harnessing the rich soils of the region, the winemakers strive to create exquisite wines of superior quality. The name 'Lieu Dit,' originates from the French term for "named place", a nod towards the vineyard's prime location and the inspiration behind their exceptional wines.

The brainchild of two old friends, sommelier Eric Railsback and winemaker Justin Willet, the winery reflects their deep appreciation for the uniqueness of the terroir and their shared passion for wines from the Loire Valley in France. And so, Lieu Dit has become the purveyor of some of California's most standout Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Melon de Bourgogne varieties.

Under their skilled guidance, the vineyard produces wines that showcase the vibrant fruit character of California while still maintaining admirable complexity, balance and a sense of refined elegance. Each wine is treated to a minimalist approach during winemaking - ensuring they express the true flavour of the grape, and the distinctive characters of the terroir.

What sets Lieu Dit apart is not just their remarkable wines, but their unending commitment to sustainability, They engage in organic farming practices and employ gentle handling of the grapes through every step of the process: guaranteeing wines that are as eco-conscious as they are delicious.

Inviting wine lovers to visit their newly opened tasting room in downtown Santa Barbara, is a chance to experience first-hand the charm and sophistication of Lieu Dit winery. Amidst the wooden beams and rustic ambience that mirror the vineyards stately beauty, you will be taken on a journey through their unique wine story, one sip at a time.

Incorporating the plaisir de vivre that fuels the wine industry with the harmonious marriage of Californian soil and French winemaking, Lieu Dit Winery is indeed a 'named place' that is, without a doubt, making its name in the world of quality wines.
