Tasting Note

Cherries, blackcurrant and ripe red fruits, round and persistent - a million miles from the overripe styles made by many of their peers.

Product Notes

Rallo Il Principe Nero d'Avola is a sensational Sicilian wine showcasing the best of Italy's indigenous grape, Nero d'Avola. Produced by the esteemed Rallo winery, this wine effuses intense bouquets of wild red fruits, spice and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it presents robust tannins and a harmonious balance of acidity, resulting in a full-bodied, velvety texture. Matured in oak barrels for 12 months, its complex personality embraces warmth and a long-lasting finish. The Principe Nero d'Avola is a grand representation of Sicilian viticulture, perfect for pairing with hearty meat dishes or mature cheeses.

About the Winery

Founded in 1860, Rallo is one of Sicily’s historic family-owned wine estates, with roots deeply connected to the island’s long viticultural tradition. Established by the Rallo family in the western part of Sicily, the winery has remained under family ownership for more than five generations and today is managed by siblings José and Antonio Vesco, descendants of the founding family. The estate is headquartered near Marsala in western Sicily, an area historically associated with fortified wine production but now increasingly recognised for high-quality modern Sicilian wines.
