Kim Crawford is one of New Zealand’s top winemakers – he became involved in winemaking while completing a BSc in microbiology and botany at Massey University, and launched his own label in 1996, soon gaining a devoted following and critical acclaim throughout the world. New Zealand is Kim Crawford's “virtual vineyard”, utilising small select sites in Marlborough and Hawke's Bay located in predominantly coastal areas, where the grapes benefit from long days, clean breezes and crisp nights, which allows them to ripen slowly. This helps to build flavour intensity, and flavour is the core of their philosophy. Kim sold to Constellation wines in 2005, but the Master Winemaker Anthony Walkenhorst continues to make wines in the Kim Crawford style, in fact he describes himself as the “guardian of flavour”, and says that making good wine is simple: Focus on Flavour!
