The company dates back to 1879 when Don Alberto Valdivieso founded Champagne Valdivieso – this was the first company in Chile and indeed South America to make sparkling wines. They still make sparkling wines but of course, they can no longer label them as Champagne: that privilege is reserved for wines only made in the Champagne region of France. About 100 years after it was founded Valdivieso started to produce still wines as well - tradition and innovation have always gone hand in hand at Valdivieso. They are located in Lontué in the Curicó Valley, a subregion of the Central Valley and Chile's second largest valley. Valdivieso have the most varied portfolio in Latin America: with vineyards in the Limarí, Casablanca, Leyda, Maipo, Apalta, Colchagua, Curicó, Maule, Itata, and Bío Bío Valleys, cultivating Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cinsault, Carmenere, Syrah, Grenache, Tempranillo and País on a tapestry of soils. Valdivieso are one of Chile's most awarded wineries. Their wines have great characters and personalities, each one faithfully representing the area from where the grapes are grown - there is something for every palate at Valdivieso, and they are very well priced.
