Catarratto

White grape variety predominantly found in Sicily where it is widely planted, it is generally associated with large-scale production, and the mass of surplus grapes are used for the production of Marsala - which is a fortified wine traditionally produced using a Solera style system. One of the phenotypes 'Catarratto Bianco Lucido', is deemed to be superior when compared with 'Catarratto Bianco Comune' - another phenotype, and is consequently capable of producing high quality, delicious table wine.
