Tasting Note

A dry and minerally Chenin which shows a clear robe and brightness to the eye. Pure and elegant with notes citrus and white fruit. Lovely balance with a tense and saline finish.

Product Notes

François Chidaine Les Argiles is a sophisticated Loire Valley wine, demonstrating Chidaine's profound skill in viniculture. The wine offers exquisite complexity, balanced minerality, and impressive depth. A 100% Chenin Blanc, it savours of ripe orchard-fruits, honeysuckle, and a subtle nuttiness, underlain by a delicate layer of flinty minerality. The palate feels rich, with a refreshing citrus zing that adds vivacity to the rounded, honeyed flavours. Remarkably persistent, the finish leaves a delightful residue of vanilla and orchard fruit. It's a charming organic wine, perfectly suited for lavish dinner parties, or simply to savour on its own.

About the Winery

François Chidaine

Nestled on the south bank of the Loire River in Montlouis-sur-Loire, Domaine François Chidaine stands as one of the Loire Valley's most respected producers of Chenin Blanc. The estate's modern winery is located in the village of Husseau, with vineyards stretching across three appellations: around 20 hectares in Montlouis-sur-Loire, 10 hectares in Vouvray (north of the river), and 7 hectares in the broader Touraine zone for reds, rosés, and Sauvignon Blanc—totaling about 37 hectares of biodynamically farmed land.
