About the Winery

Nestled deep within the verdant and rolling plains of the Priorat region in Spain, the Mas La Mola winery is a historic powerhouse in the world of viticulture. Boasting a rich legacy that stretches back as far as 1861, the vineyard's distinguishing features are its dry-stone terraced slopes and a myriad of old vines, imbued with age and wisdom.

Mas La Mola winery spans over seven hectares, offering an impressive collection of ancient vines dating back between 35 and 100 years. It presents an unrivalled synergy between nature and generations of winemakers, transforming the estate into a thriving hub of wine culture.

Grapes are grown in a remarkable climate, characterised by hot days and cool nights. The terrain’s unique slate and quartz soil, locally called 'llicorella,' contributes to the distinctive flavour profiles of the Mas La Mola wines. High altitude and extreme slopes further enhance the mineral character and complexity of their vintages. At present, the winery primarily produces Garnacha and Cariñena, along with a small quantity of white grapes that include Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, and Pansal.

Strict adherence to organic and biodynamic principles underlines the operations at Mas La Mola. No chemicals, artificial fertilisers or pesticides are employed in the vineyard operations, and the entire harvest is carried out exclusively by hand.
