Tasting Note

This has a refined air to the nose with very rich black-fruit aromas and notes of cedar, earth and crushed violets. Tile and terracotta, too. The palate delivers a very concentrated impression. This is a boldly expressed wine, in terms of tannin and flavour. Super tight, concentrated and rich in every respect. - James Suckling

About the Winery

Château Rocheyron

Blessed with a rich winemaking heritage, Château Rocheyron is located in the iconic wine region of Saint-Emilion, in the heart of Bordeaux, France. Birthed in 2010 by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck and co-owner Silvio Denz, it rapidly gained international renown for its awe-inspiring range of French wines.

The vineyard spans a humble eight hectares, but the relative smallness in no way impedes the excellence of the produce. Its location on the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion lends the wine its distinguishing feature: a sweet murmur of minerality that speaks clearly of the land from where it hails.

Château Rocheyron winery nods to both traditional and innovative practises. After handpicking, the grapes are carefully sorted leaving only the most promising specimens to continue their journey. These are then vinified parcel by parcel to retain the individual character of each terroir.

The wines produce by Château Rocheyron indeed possess an elegant spaciousness and depth, credited in part to the rigorous vineyard management and meticulous vinification process. Each bottle carries notes of dark berries, truffles, and licorice, underpinned by well-crafted tannins and an exquisite finish.

Take a step inside the Château, and you’re treated to traditional stone architecture meeting the modernity of steel. The wine cellars, boasting of impressive barrel rooms, invoke a sense of calm curiosity as one contemplates the alchemy of turning grape into wine.

Château Rocheyron’s philosophy is one of respect for the land, and for the individuality of each vintage prepare. The result is honest, elegant wines that hit a chord with wine enthusiasts across the globe. Despite its infancy, Château Rocheyron’s solid make in the world of fine wines is truly inspiring, painting a promising picture of the years to follow.
