About the Winery

Selvapiana

Nestled in the breathtaking Tuscan hills, the historical Selvapiana winery paints a perfect picture of Italian viticulture. Originally built as a summer residence for the Florentine bishops, it later fell into the hands of the Giuntini family who have nurtured it's growth for five generations. Today, it is revered as one of Italy's most prized treasures.

Boasting a scenic 240 hectares of land, the estate is an enchanting blend of fertile vineyards, opulent olive groves and luscious forestry. The vineyard itself spans 45 hectares, employing traditional Tuscan methods to cultivate Sangiovese, the region's dominant grape variety.

At the heart of the estate is the winery, a building teeming with history, ornate architecture, and cosy charm. Here, the Selvapiana team carry out their wine-making magic, employing a striking blend of traditional and modern techniques that places both expertise and passion at the forefront of their work.

While Selvapiana predominantly produces Chianti Rufina, considered among the most elegant of Tuscan wines, it also boasts a commendable range of other wines, including their opulent and famed Vigneto Bucerchiale; a wine that fully expresses the estate's unique terroir. These beautiful creations owe their distinct taste to the estate's unique microclimate and calcareous clay soil.

One aspect that sets Selvapiana apart from other wineries is its dedication to sustainable farming; a testament their commitment to preserving the exquisite Italian land that they call home, Every decision, from cultivation to harvest, is taken with the utmost care, ensuring minimal harm to both the environment and the land.

Visitors to Selvapiana can indulge in a truly immersive experience. Guided tours offer a deep insight into their careful viticulture and meticulous winemaking process. After exploring, guests can enjoy a tantalising tasting session, savouring the delightful notes of their expertly crafted wines.
