Wine tasting notes

Our Warrelwind Sauvignon Blanc is a palate pleasing wine: harmonious and wellbalanced showing typical green herbaceous flavours as well as richer tropical notes.Pale straw in colour with a light green tinge, it has a lively bouquet of tropical fruit with herbaceous, green apple and green pepper notes. On the palate, bright tropical fruit flavours of passion fruit and pineapple are complemented by crisp, well integrated acidity. The wine has a rich, full structure with a rounded and creamy mouthfeel.

MAN Family Wines

M?A?N Family Wines began in 2001 when three friends got together with the aim of making wine that they?d love to buy - quality wine with smart packaging, but at price they could afford.Next they needed a name that would unite their three families, but particularly appeal to their wives after they?d unsuccessfully convinced them that their winemaking venture was a sacrifice rather than a lot of fun. Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2015)90 pts

Nov 2015 - Neal Martin - The 2015 Warrelwind Sauvignon Blanc, blended with 13% Semillon, has quite a phenolic, resinous, waxy bouquet that is nicely focused. The palate is very well balanced with a grassy opening, Granny Smith apples and gooseberry notes leading to a lively, harmonious finish. This is very fine.

Wine Spectator (2014)86 pts

Nov 30, 2014 - Offers light mâche, lime and flint notes, with a breezy finish.

Vinous/Stephen Tanzer (2010)88 pts

Mar/Apr '11 by Stephen Tanzer - Pale bright yellow. Pungent aromas of gooseberry, lemon and lime, plus a hint of fig. Juicy and fairly intense, with a slightly sweaty, varietally typical aspect to the gooseberry and curry powder flavors. The uncompromising finish is quite dry and a bit tart.

John Platter (2014)3 stars

'Whirlwind'. Apple & sage, the 13% semillon adding palate weight, a slight waxy note. 2014 elegant, summer-fruit freshness, good length.

Miscellaneous (2013)90 stars

Tasting Panel - Smooth and tangy with ripe citrus and juicy, clean flavors; fresh and bright with lots of charm and good length.

Vinification Notes

Our Sauvignon Blanc is one of the few wines where we bring in grapes from outside our growing region - fruit from the cooler, higher-elevation vineyard from Stellenbosch adds fruit intensity. The 10% Semillon also helps the wine age well in the bottle. As with all our wines, we only choose grapes with a very concentrated flavour, so you enjoy a refreshingly crisp wine with a generous bouquet of pineapple and lime.
