Product Notes

Petra Quercegobbe Merlot is a regal wine from Tuscany, displaying an alluring deep ruby hue. A superbly complex bouquet of ripe blackberries, earthy spices and toasted cocoa prefaces a palate laden with voluptuous cherries and plum flavours, alongside a hint of tobacco. Its silky tannins unravel gloriously, culminating in a lingering, elegant finish. Made from Merlot grapes hand-harvested from a single vineyard, this full-bodied masterpiece impresses with its balanced structure and impressive depth. Aged in French oak, it boasts an understated potency that flourishes when paired with rich meat dishes. A captivating indulgence, Petra Quercegobbe Merlot is a testament to Italian winemaking artistry.

Tasting Notes

The color is a very deep ruby-red. An ample and intriguing nose opens with the fruited notes of blueberry, raspberry, black cherry and plum, followed by the mediterranean contingent: myrtle, rosemary and licorice. The body is dense, full, smooth, with polished tannins. Vigorous yet balanced, this is a striking red that will not fall short of expectations.

About the Winery

Petra

Petra winery is perfectly nestled amidst the untouched beauty of Suvereto, situated in the Tuscan countryside. Known for its exceptional wine production, this winery remains a pearl in the crown of Italy's vineyards.

The varieties grown include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The winery's signature wine remains Petra, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet that portrays the perfect marriage of intense flavours with a sophisticated structure. These are concocted elegantly in the winery's minimalist yet avant-garde premise, designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta.

Sustainable methods of wine production are integral to Petra's philosophy. The winery preserves the natural integrity of the surroundings through organic farming, reforestation and use of renewable energy sources. Guided tours of the winery provide glimpses of their commitment to the environment while providing insights into the art of winemaking.

In addition to the wine production, educational sessions and wine tasting events at Petra Winery offer an enriched experience for wine enthusiasts, serving more than just palatable delights. The picturesque view of vines stretching towards the beautiful sea complements the rich allure of the perfectly-aged wines.
