About Altolandon

Perched at up to 1,100 metres above sea level in the highlands of eastern Spain, Bodegas Altolandon produces some of Manchuela’s most distinctive high-altitude wines. The family winery is located in Landete, in the province of Cuenca, close to the borders with Valencia and Teruel, with its cellar positioned in the middle of a 200-hectare estate.

Altolandon has been shaped by winemaker Rosalía Molina, whose approach places the vineyard firmly at the centre of the winemaking process. The estate was developed around the belief that altitude, healthy soils and carefully matched grape varieties could produce wines combining concentration with exceptional freshness. Its elevated position brings significant temperature differences between day and night, encouraging slow ripening while preserving acidity and aromatic intensity. Poor, sandy-loam and stony soils further contribute to the wines’ mineral character.

All of Altolandon’s vineyards are farmed organically, without pesticides and with soil fertility maintained through natural fertilisers. The wines are also vegan. In the cellar, intervention is deliberately restrained: alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, while maturation may involve stainless steel, French oak or traditional clay amphorae depending on the individual wine.

The estate works with an unusually broad selection of varieties, including Bobal, Garnacha, Syrah, Malbec, Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside white grapes such as Chardonnay and Moscatel. Its diverse portfolio includes Rayuelo, Mil Historias, Irrepetible, L’Ame Malbec, CF Altolandon, Altolandon by Rosalía, and experimental wines such as Biodiverso and Enblanco de Altolandon.

Across the range, Altolandon’s signature is freshness, vibrant fruit and minerality, demonstrating the distinctive potential of organic, high-altitude viticulture in Manchuela.
