Established in 1927, Bodega Protos is the oldest winery in Ribera del Duero. With a century old history, the winery owes its legacy to 11 visionary wine farmers who, having recognised the superlative potential of the region's terroir and weather conditions, endeavoured to establish a winery that would not only embody their passion but also reflect their dedication to quality. Their dream, manifested in Protos, is now renowned for producing some of Spain's finest wines.
Bodega Protos is also no stranger to using modern technology to optimize traditional wine-making techniques. Imbedded in a hillside, the architectural marvel boasts an expansive, labyrinthine network of tunnels used for cellaring their wines. These subterranean galleries, that extend more than 2 kilometres below the surface, provide idyllic conditions for ageing wines.
