About Château Guiraud

Founded in 1766, Château Guiraud is one of the most prestigious wine estates in Sauternes, located around 45 km south of Bordeaux in France's Graves wine region. The estate was recognised as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification and today encompasses approximately 128 hectares of vineyards planted primarily to Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.

Since 2021, the château has been majority-owned by entrepreneur Matthieu Gufflet, continuing its long-standing commitment to quality and sustainability. Winemaking is led by Sandrine Garbay, formerly of Château d'Yquem, whose focus is on expressing the estate's unique terroir while preserving freshness and balance.

A pioneer of environmentally responsible viticulture, Château Guiraud became the first 1855 First Growth estate to achieve certified organic status in 2011. Alongside its flagship Château Guiraud Sauternes, the estate produces Petit Guiraud, a more approachable sweet wine, as well as the dry whites G de Guiraud and Grand Vin Blanc Sec, showcasing the versatility of its vineyards. Renowned for combining richness with remarkable freshness and elegance, Château Guiraud remains one of the benchmark producers of both sweet and dry white wines in Bordeaux.
