About Dog Point Vineyard

Situated in the heart of New Zealand's renowned Marlborough wine region, Dog Point Vineyard offers a breathtaking marriage of high-quality winemaking and awe-inspiring natural beauty. This small, family-run winery, nestled amidst rolling green hills and brilliant azure skies, easily stands up to its more ostentatious competitors.

Dog Point Vineyard’s journey started in the early 80’s, when the founders, James Healy and Ivan Sutherland, took their combined expertise as viticulturist and winemaker respectively and began transforming a 2000-hectare sheep farm into a flourishing vineyard. Attention to detail is paramount - from the most meticulously kept vineyards to the noble pursuit of old-world winemaking techniques.

A serendipitous blend of innovation with tradition has resulted in some of New Zealand’s finest bottles of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The crown jewel is arguably their Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc; a fine wine that is barrel-fermented to imbue it with complexity and longevity unusual for the region. Each wine not only exemplifies the distinctly Marlborough terroir but it also captures a sense of time and place that is utterly unique to Dog Point Vineyard.

Here, it's not just about wine but also about people. There's a deeply ingrained sense of hospitality that infuses every visit. Guests can enjoy leisurely wine tastings accompanied by a selection of artisan cheeses and local delicacies, and the bi-annual 'Dog Point Classic Kiwi Picnic' offers a more sumptuous food and wine experience amidst the stunning scenery.

Dog Point Vineyard, isn't just a winery: it's a testament to a vision. A vision to handcraft compelling wines that would do more than just quench a thirst, but would engage the senses, spark conversations, and evoke memories. It's a living, breathing entity, that evolves with the changing seasons and the skilful hands that tend it. Truly a feast not just for the senses but also for the soul.
