About Domaine Cauhapé

Domaine Cauhapé was founded in 1970 when winemaker and label artist Henri Ramonteu transformed his family’s cattle farm in Monein, Jurançon, into a vineyard estate. He produced his first sweet wines in 1980, followed by dry wines in 1984, and the domaine is now recognised as one of Jurançon’s leading producers.

The estate comprises 54 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards on south- and south-east-facing slopes at 450 metres, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Siliceous clay soils retain moisture during hot summers, supporting plantings of Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng and Courbu, alongside indigenous varieties such as Lauzet and Camaralet.

Domaine Cauhapé’s dry wines express contrasting styles. ‘L’Éclipse’, a blend of Gros Manseng and Lauzet, is rounded and textured after five months on lees, while ‘Chant des Vignes’ Jurançon Sec, made from Gros Manseng and Camaralet, is taut and precise, with honeyed stone-fruit notes enhanced by stainless-steel fermentation.

The domaine is particularly renowned for its sweet Jurançon, produced from 100% Petit Manseng. ‘Symphonie de Novembre’, made from passerillé grapes harvested in November, combines richness and acidity, with layered honey and spice after oak ageing. ‘Ballet d’Octobre’, from late-harvested fruit, is more overtly fruit-driven, offering vibrant passionfruit and lychee aromas.
