About Domaine Chevrot

Located just 10 kilometres south of Puligny- and Chassagne-Montrachet, Maranges is increasingly recognised for its quality and value. Domaine Chevrot, recommended early on by Jane Eyre, is based in the heart of the appellation and run by brothers Pablo and Vincent Chevrot, who took over from their parents in 2007 after gaining experience in Bordeaux and Central Otago. Certified organic, the 19-hectare estate is farmed according to regenerative principles, with horse-drawn ploughing and the use of larger-format oak helping to refine the style. These efforts have established Domaine Chevrot as one of Maranges’ leading producers, earning two stars in La Revue du Vin de France’s 2024 guide.

In both vineyard and cellar, the brothers pursue continual improvement. Owing to Vincent’s allergy, sulphur is only added at bottling, resulting in very low total SO₂ levels. This exacting approach has led Domaine Chevrot to act as a pilot winery for the BIVB’s research into controlling Brettanomyces in Burgundy.

The whites are precise and expressive. Maranges Villages Blanc, from granite and gravel soils near the La Cosanne stream, shows yellow peach and bergamot, while the Maranges 1er Cru ‘La Fussière’ Blanc comes from a steep, chalky site and offers depth, freshness and a long finish. The Santenay 1er Cru ‘Clos Rousseau’ Blanc, grown on limestone and aged with 20% new oak, combines ripe stone fruit with subtle honeyed notes and impressive length.

The reds are notably deep and characterful. Maranges ‘Sur le Chêne’ Rouge, partly whole-bunch fermented, is perfumed and vibrant with fine tannins, while the Maranges 1er Cru ‘La Fussière’ Rouge delivers darker fruit, structure and an elegant, persistent finish.
