Domaine Gérard Tremblay

Domaine Gérard Tremblay is a family-owned Chablis estate based in the hamlet of Poinchy, just outside the town of Chablis in northern Burgundy. The Tremblay family has been connected with viticulture for five generations, with the modern domaine established by Gérard and Hélène Tremblay. Today, responsibility has passed to their children, Vincent and Eléonore, who continue the family’s focus on producing classic, terroir-driven Chablis.

The family settled in Poinchy in 1950, when the estate still practised mixed farming. During the 1970s, Gérard and Hélène increasingly concentrated on viticulture and began estate-bottling their wines rather than selling the grapes to négociants. From these modest beginnings, the domaine has expanded considerably and now farms around 37 hectares across all four levels of the Chablis hierarchy.

Approximately 10 hectares are classified Premier Cru, including holdings in Beauroy, Côte de Léchet, Montmain and Fourchaume, while the domaine also owns vines in the prestigious Grand Cru Vaudésir. The range is completed by Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Vieilles Vignes and the oak-vinified Cuvée Hélène.

Chardonnay is the sole focus, grown predominantly on the limestone and marl soils characteristic of Chablis. In the cellar, the Tremblays combine modern precision with traditional principles, using gravity handling, pneumatic pressing and temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation. The resulting wines emphasise freshness, minerality and white-flower aromas, with the Premier and Grand Crus offering greater concentration, complexity and ageing potential.
