Domaine Goisot

Domaine Jean-Hugues et Ghislaine Goisot is a historic family estate based in Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, in the Yonne department of northern Burgundy, close to Chablis, Irancy and Auxerre. The Goisot family has cultivated vines in Saint-Bris since the late 16th century, with fourteen generations of growers continuing the family tradition. Today the domaine covers around 30 hectares across Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, Irancy and Chablis.

Jean-Hugues joined the family estate in 1974 at just 16 years old, with Ghislaine joining him in 1979. Together they transformed the property, restoring its historic cellars, some dating from the 11th–13th centuries, while progressively changing the approach in the vineyards. Conversion to organic farming began in 1990, with the entire estate achieving organic certification in 2001. The domaine subsequently embraced biodynamics and has been Demeter-certified since 2005. Ghislaine retired in 2021, while their son Guilhem, who joined in the mid-2000s with his partner Marie, now works alongside Jean-Hugues and represents the next generation of the family.

The domaine produces an unusually diverse range for northern Burgundy, including Saint-Bris, Bourgogne Côtes d’Auxerre, Bourgogne Aligoté, Irancy and Chablis. Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris are particularly important in Saint-Bris, alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligoté across the wider holdings.

Goisot’s philosophy centres on expressing individual soils and vineyard sites rather than imposing a uniform house style. Separate lieu-dit bottlings highlight the region’s limestone and marl terroirs, producing wines characterised by purity, freshness, mineral tension and a strong sense of place.
