Tasting Note

Light gold in colour, this spätlese is rich and complex with notes of quince, marmalade and elderflower honey. On the palate, a juicy core of mango, papaya, ripe nectarine and green tea is supported by mouthwatering acidity, rich mouthfeel and medium sweetness.

Product Notes

Gunderloch Rothenberg Riesling Spätlese wine, hailing from Germany's famed Rheinhessen region, is an impeccable blend of elegance and complexity. Intense citrus aroma intermingles with delicate mineral notes, while the palate yields a delightful harmony of lush pear, apple, and tropical fruits. Its characteristic sweetness is well balanced by a vibrant acidity, leading to an enduring, unforgettable finish. Its golden hues, crispness, and fruity undertones shine when paired with spicy Asian dishes or creamy desserts. A masterful Spätlese wine, a true testament to the exceptional quality of Gunderloch's vineyards.

About the Winery

Gunderloch

Gunderloch is one of Rheinhessen's most highly regarded estates, celebrated for producing world-class Rieslings from the distinctive red soils of the Roter Hang. Established in 1890, the family-owned winery has played an important role in Germany's fine wine history, including as a founding member of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP). Today, under sixth-generation owner and winemaker Johannes Hasselbach, the estate continues to evolve while remaining true to its heritage. As Johannes explains, "This is an old estate with a long history, but we have to evolve because when nature changes, so do the wines."
