About the Winery

Oremus

Nestled in the picturesque region of Tokaj, Hungary, lies an exquisitely interesting winery – Oremus. Known for its acclaimed sweet wines, this winery is more than just a hub of local viticulture. It's a beacon of Hungarian wine history with a narrative as captivating as the luscious wines it produces.

Oremus is primarily famous for creating Tokaji Aszú, a delightful dessert wine with complex flavours and a rich, honeyed finish. However, its inventive spirit transcends beyond traditional sweet wine production. From late harvest wines to cool, crisp dry whites, the winery's offerings are a symphony of excellent crafting, ensuring a memorable palate experience for wine lovers.

Dating back to 1620, Oremus boasts a legacy soaked in tradition and ingenuity. The winery operates using a unique blend of conventional methods, and modern technology in order to capture the essence of the indigenous Furmint and Hárslevelű grapes they harvest. The vineyards themselves stretch over an impressive 115 hectares, where skilled viticulturists diligently tend the vines to create the exquisite raw materials for Oremus' elixirs.

The winery’s cellar is a destination in itself, with its almost fantastical labyrinthine tunnels that delve deep into the volcanic soils. Inside, the winemakers nurture the maturing wines, allowing them to develop a bottomless depth of character that is quintessentially Oremus. Submerged in relative silence and cool, constant temperatures, the wines age gracefully as they wait to be shared with the world.

Despite having a global reputation for excellence, Oremus remains deeply connected to its local heritage and community. The ancient Hungarian proverb "Egészségedre", which translates as "To your health", is often heard through the echoing bottle-filled corridors of Oremus. It's a testament to their mission of infusing rich, native culture into each bottle they produce,

Under the guidance of the Borgoña-born oenologist, Ángel Rodríguez, Oremus continues to push the boundaries of Tokaji winemaking, selling excellent wine worldwide whilst preserving the authentic spirit of Hungarian winemaking.
